We remain interested in possible Rift Valley fever activity in Kenya, as this is an El Nino year.  El Nino is responsible for heavy rainfall in the horn of Africa, which leads to heightened Rift Valley fever activity due to over-proliferation of vector mosquitoes.  Also a risk factor in promoting cholera transmission, among a host of other diseases.  This year the herd immunity for Rift Valley fever is likely high, as the last major epizootic was in 2006.  That said, outbreaks of Rift may still be observed through February and into early March.
