Kudos to Dr. Jason Eberhart-Phillips for reporting this case. The crucial information that needed to be provided in context with notification of this case was how many samples of type A influenza have been tested already in Marin County thus far and how many were found to be seasonal A/H3N2 versus A/H3N2v. What is key at this point is to flesh out the percentiles and whether they are shifting or not. This information is essential for proper situational awareness as the country evaluates additional cases.
