UC-Davis faces a complete shut down of all federal funding over a flap involving two well-respected neurosurgeons chasing a "Hail Mary Pass" of a therapy: the deliberate introduction of pathogens to terminally ill brain cancer patients. This therapy is referred to as "Probiotic Intracranial Therapy for Malignant Glioma", however academic studies continue to debate the validity of pathogen introduction as a means of stimulating the immune system to combat cancer.
