Within minutes of activation (and upgrading the status of the Black Canyon Forecast Station to that of the National Infectious Disease Forecast Center), we were involved with the investigation of and possible evacuation of 711 Seagrist, Far Rockaway. This is a building with 200 abandoned Russian-speaking elderly who had been left without nursing care, food, water, power, or meds for 4+ days. There is a strong suspicion of multiple fatalities inside, however this has not been confirmed.
No clear report of infectious disease, however one local citizen who has been a hero to the community, walking the neighborhoods of Rockaway, believes he has heard report of diarrhea. This is expected given the safe drinking water shortages / lack of power reported.
