From the June 15th Health Cluster Meeting:
Dr. Christiane Boecker, representing MSPP, will be passing through the camps ensuring that the NGOs are carry[ing] out what they said they were doing and where. In addition she is providing feedback to MSPP on unmet needs. Those NGOs wishing to change activity or geographic location should inform and await approval from MSPP before doing so. NGOs found to be not carrying out activities they are registered as doing will be called in to discuss matters with MSPP.
Cases of Malaria were reported from a camp. NGOs were all reminded that they are supposed to be reporting information to the Direction de Epidemiology. If no information is received it is difficult to follow up.
It is notable Dr. Boecker was invited to the HEAS social network reporting group several weeks ago, to which she declined. Other members of MSPP were manually added to the group to ensure all information is freely available to them without inhibition.
Further evidence hierarchical disease reporting systems are not as effective without an open social network based on trust. The above communication unfortunately inhibits trust within a community to report disease.
